Public Transport

Bringing together Public Transport and Highway data evidently allows a unified picture to be presented to transport managers and the travelling public – allowing inter-modal awareness in real time. It allows emergencies to be handled on the basis of broad common information. It also makes possible the derivation of additional more highway information from public transport progress. ANPR is delivering more accurate and detailed journey-time data. But more is still needed to give universal multi-modal comparisons. Bus progress data, if corrected for stop dwell time, could significantly increase the data available.

From the technical viewpoint while the flow interconnection of separate systems via web services may offer something to the largest centres, the use of a common repository architecture is convenient and straightforward for most authorities and makes for straightforward development of new applications across the domain of responsibility of highway managers.

We are actively pursuing this integration. Please contact us if you would like to know more.
